Використання the Present Perfect Continuous Tense

(Теперішній доконано-тривалий час)

The Present Perfect Continuous Tense виражає дію

1.   Що почалася в минулому і тривала протягом певного періоду і
а) або все ще продовжується в цей момент:
His father has been working at this clinic for fifteen years.
Його батько працює в цій клініці п'ятнадцять років. (почав працювати 15 років тому і працює досі).
б) або щойно закінчилася:
I have been waiting for you for an hour.
Я чекав тебе годину (дія почалася годину тому, тривала до моменту мовлення і щойно закінчилася)

2.   Що почалася в минулому і тривала протягом певного періоду, щойно закінчилася і її результати можна побачити у теперішньому часі.

The boy has been playing all day. He is so dirty!

Хлопчик грався увесь день. Він такий брудний! ( дія тривала увесь день і ми бачимо результат – він такий брудний )

3.   Для вираження злості, незадоволення чимось або роздратування через певну тривалу дію.

Who has been reading my business papers?

Хто читав мої ділові документи? (людина роздратована)

4. The Present Perfect Continuous може вживатися без вказівки на тривалість дії:

What have you been writing?

Здебільшого на тривалість дії вказують такі слова:

For – протягом (якогось часу)

For the past two months I have been travelling across America

Протягом останніх двох місяців я мандрував Америкою.

Since – з (якогось часу); відтоді; з того часу; з того часу як; починаючи з

He has been teaching English at our school since 2020.

Він викладає англійську мову в нашій школі з 2020 року.

Увага!!!

Після since може вживатися конкретна дата або ж інша подія, дія у минулому, виражена в часі Past Simple.

All day(long) (the whole day); all morning (the whole morning); all evening (the whole evening); all night(long)(the whole night) etc. – весь день (whole – цілий, весь)

We have been thinking about it all day

Ми думали про це весь день

Lately – нещодавно, останнім часом

I have been reading romantic novels lately.
Останнім часом я читаю детективи.

Today – сьогодні
Has he been working hard today?

Він наполегливо працював сьогодні?

Recently – останнім часом
I haven't been feeling well recently.
Останнім часом я не почуваюся добре.

 

В питальних реченнях з питальними словами how long – як довго, скільки часу; since when – з якого часу, відколи, якщо йде про період, що передує моменту мовлення.

How long have they been playing football?

Як довго вони грають у футбол?
Since when has he been playing computer games?
З якого часу він грає в комп’ютерні ігри?

З дієсловами, що не вживаються в Continuous, замість Present Perfect Continuous вживається Present Perfect

I have known her since childhood.
Я знаю її з дитинства.

З дієсловами live, work, teach and feel (емоції) може вживатися як present perfect так і present perfect continuous без різниці в значенні.
He has taught/has been teaching English for more than twenty years.

Past Perfect Continuous

Виражає дію,

1) що тривала деякий час у минулому та завершилась до певного моменту (або до іншої дії у минулому), або все ще продовжувалась в цей момент.

Час тривалості дії або ії початок поначаються словами

for an hour – протягом години

for 5 hours – протягом п'яти годин

for a day – протягом дня

for a week – протягом тижня

for a month – протягом місяця

all morning / the whole morning – весь ранок

all day (long) / the whole day – весь день

all week / the whole week – весь тиждень

all month / the whole month – весь місяць

all year (round) – весь рік

since 5 o’clock – з 5-ї години

since last week – з минулого тижня

since last month – з минулого місяця

since 1991 – з 1991 року

since last century – з минулого сторіччя

Певний момент до якого закінчилась дія позначається словами типу:

 before – до

till – до (здебільшого в заперечних реченнях)

untill – до (здебільшого в заперечних реченнях)

by that time – до того часу

She had been running for two hours before she saw a village. – Вона бігла протягом двох годин, поки не побачила якесь село.

They had been sitting here since last evening before they bought the tickets. – Вони сиділи тут з попереднього вечора, поки не купили квитки.

They had been working here for five years by that time.

He had been waiting for her for an hour by 8 o’clock yesrterday

I had been looking for my key until (till) I stepped on it last Monday

 

2) що тривала деякий час у минулому і її результат ми можемо побачити у минулому.

John had been speaking all morning the day before yesterday , so he lost his voice.

Джон розмовляв весь ранок, так що втратив голос. (Тривала дія відбувалась в минулому. Її результат також з'явився в минулому: Джон втратив голос)

He had been studying all night so he  was exhausted

He has been studying all night so he is exhausted

Примітка:

Якщо дієслово не вживається в continuous, то замість past perfect continuous вживаємо past perfect

When we came to see Rose, she had been ill for three days.

Constructions -  It`s time…  It’s high time…

It’s time – пора, настав час, час, саме час

Схема така:

It’s time + to-infinitive

It`s time to take the tablets. – Час приймати таблетки.

It`s time to tell him the truth. - Настав час сказати йому правду.

Якщо ж ви вказуєте, кому саме час щось зробити, використовуйте прийменник for:

It's time + for + дійова особа + to-infinitive

It’s time for me to take tablets.

Мені час приймати таблетки.

It`s time for them to tell him the truth.

Їм пора сказати йому правду.

It’s high time (that) – давно час, давно пора

використовують, щоб наголосити на терміновості дії і для критики, коли дію слід було б вже виконати, а її всі відкладають.

Схема така:

It’s high time (that) + особа, якій пора щось зробити + дієслово у минулому часі

Примітка 1: незважаючи на те, що дієслово стоїть у минулому часі, переклад робимо у теперішноьму часі

It’ high time they started work.

Їм давно пора починати роботу.

It’s high time не можна поєднувати з інфінітивом і прийменником for.

It's time теж можливо використовувати з дієсловом у минулому часі (але є прості комбінації, частіше використовують їх):

It’s time you started work. - Тобі пора починати роботу.

It’s time you did the test to check your knowledge! - Настав час виконати тест, щоб перевірити свої знання!
