The Importance of Sport
Sport is an important part of today's society and plays a large role in many people's lives. Now more than ever, sport events dominate headlines and athletes have become national heroes. The question is does sport deserve this kind of interest and attention?
From a social standpoint, sport plays a positive role in uniting people from different social backgrounds in support of their favourite team. This can aid people's understanding and tolerance of each other. However, just as sport unites people so it can divide them, as is often demonstrated by crowd violence at football matches.
As far as education is concerned, sport is an important part of every child's schooling, as it plays a big role in both their physical and mental development. It teaches children how to work as part of a team and cooperate with others, while at the same time improving physical condition. The only drawback to this is that children who are less able to perform well in sport are likely to feel inadequate in comparison to their more gifted classmates, which may affect their self-confidence.   .
From an economic point of view, sport can be very profit and advertising. On the one hand this creates revenue for the sporting industry which allows for improvement and expansion. On the other hand large sums of money are often paid to event organisers to promote products such as cigarettes, which are harmful to one's health.
In my opinion, sport should be used as much as possible to encourage people to lead a more healthy and peaceful life instead of being used to promote unhealthy products.

The Ukrainian landscape can't be called monotonous; it has some diversity as its plains are broken by highlands - running in a continuous belt from northwest to southwest - as well as by lowlands. The largest highland area is the Dnieper Upland, which lies between the middle reaches of the Dnieper and Southern Buh (Yuzhny Bug), rivers in west-central Ukraine. It is broken by many rivers, valleys, ravine and gorges, some of them more than 1,000 feet deep.
The Dnieper is the main river of the country; moreover, it’s the third longest river in Europe. One of the older Ukrainian cities, its capital Kyiv is situated on both sides of this wide and powerful river. The Dnieper has many tributaries which unify central Ukraine economically, connecting the Baltic coast countries with the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. The mouth of another Ukrainian river, the Danube, provides an outlet for our country's trade to the Balkans, Austria and Germany. The Danube River connects Ukraine with 7 European countries. Other less important rivers of Ukraine are the Dniester, the Southern Bug, the Desna, the Prypyat, the Severskiy Donets and about 70 thousand small rivers.
The biggest cities of Ukraine are Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhiya, Donetsk, Odesi Mikolaiv and some others. Main industrial enterprises are concentrated in and around them. They produce planes, turbines, different kinds of machines and equipment, and various consumer goods.

Ukraine is a developed industrial and agricultural country. It’s rich in iron ore, coal, natural gas, oil, salt and other mineral resources

The territory of Ukraine is mostly a level treeless plain, called the steppe. Ukraine is not a mountainous country, though there are the Crimean Mountains in the Crimean Peninsula and the Carpathian Mountains in the west of the country; both are not very high.  The highest mountain is Hoverla. It is 2061 meters high. The Carpathians are the only mountainous natural boundary of Ukraine. Mountains cover only 5% of the whole area of Ukraine. They are covered with mixed forests of pine, fir, beech and oak trees. There are many picturesque mountain resorts there and winter sports are very popular. The thickest forests in Ukraine can be found in Volyn; they are a part of the famous Byelovezhskaya Puscha. The Crimean Mountains are an all year round tourists' and mountain-climbers` attraction. They are close to the second natural boundary of Ukraine - the Black Sea and the Azov Sea which are famous for their holiday centres and children's summer camps.

Geographical Position of Ukraine
Ukraine is my Motherland and I’m very proud to live here. So I’d like to tell you about my country.
Ukraine is a sovereign state whose independence was declared in 1991. Before that it was one of the republics of the USSR.
Ukraine is the second largest European country. It is situated in the east of Europe. . It is slightly larger than France, much larger than Great Britain but considerably smaller than the USA and Russia.  The territory of Ukraine is 603 700 square kilometers. The capital of Ukraine is Kyiv The country borders on Poland, Slovakia and Hungary in the west, Belarus in the north, Moldova and Romania in the south-west and Russia in the east. In the south it’s washed by the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov and has very important ports.
The population of our country is about 46 million people. . If we compare it with Great Britain which has 54 million people, we'll see that the dense of population in Ukraine is much less. 68% of the population is urban, and 32% is rural.   Besides Ukrainians, the representatives of many other nationalities live there: Russians, Jews, Belarusians, Moldavians, Romanians, Greeks, Tatars, Poles, Armenians, Germans, Gypsies and some other ethnic minorities.
