Verb+ to-infinitive

Verb + -ing form

Stop + to - infinitive means that someone or something stops briefly an activity so that they can do something else.

He stopped the video to ask the students some questions.

Stop + -ing means the action is not happening any more.

I've stopped buying the newspaper because now I read the news online.

Remember + to - infinitive not forget and forget + to - infinitive not remember (refer to recalling (пригадувати)(or not recalling) that there is something we need to do before we do it.

Please remember to buy some milk on the way home.
He forgot to lock the door when he went out.

Remember + -ing and forget + -ing refer to having (or not having) a memory of something in the past. (Спогади про минуле)

glove – a piece of clothing that you wear on your hand in order to protect them or keep warm; to fit like a glove

float – a large vehicle that is decorated to drive through the streets as a part of a special event;

to wave – to move smth from side to side;

group  - several people or things that are connected with each other;

team – a group of people who play a game or sport against another group; Tim plays for the national volleyball team;

strength- the physical power and energy that makes someone strong; opp. to weakness;

courage – the quality of being brave when you are in pain or in difficult situation;

apparently – obviously; it is said;

lord – a man in medieval period who was very powerful and owned a lot of land;

region – area;        

huge – extremely large; enormous;

preparations – the process of preparing smth;

to be/get involved – to take part in an activity or an event;

to be filled with – to make full

can’t take one’s eyes off smth – to be unable to stop looking at someone or something

aim – smth you hope to achieve by doing smth.

to knock out of  smth – to defeat smb in a competition so that they can no longer take part;

elaborate – having a lot of small parts or details put together in a complicated way;

The dress was made of pure silk embroidered with elaborate patterns;

design-  a pattern for decorating something

string – a strong thread made of several threads twisted together. I need a piece of string to tie this package.

event – social gathering;    furiously – done with a lot of energy force or speed;

to tug – to pull with one or two quick pulls; The woman gently tugged his arm.

stunning – extremely attractive or beautiful;  staggering.
