INDEFINITE PRONOUNS

We use some, any and no with uncountable and countable nouns in plural:
some tea; some water; some books; some flowers
+ (affirmative sentences) стверджувальне речення | some декілька, деякі, трохи, якийсь або взагалі не перекладається | There are some shops in our village. У нашому селі є кілька крамниць. I have already bought some butter Я вже купив масла |
? (interrogative sentences) питальне речення | any означає: який-небудь, які-небудь, скільки-небудь, але на українську мову здебільшого не перекладається | Are there any shops in your village? У вашому селі є крамниці? Have you already bought any butter? Ти вже купив масла? |
- (negative sentences) заперечне речення | 1) not any 2) no | 1)There are not any shops in our village 2)There are no shops in our village У нашому селі немає крамниць. 1) I haven’t bought any butter yet. 2) I have bought no butter yet. Я ще не купив масла |
Note
1. We can use some in interrogative sentences to make offers requests or when we expect a positive answer:
Would you like some chocolate? (an offer)
Can I have some water? (a request)
Do you want some tea? (I am sure you want)
2. We can use any in positive sentences when it means «будь-який».
Take any cup, you like. Візьми будь-яку чашку, яка тобі подобається.
