Завдання

 1. The rule (use of English)

Job - the regular work that you do in order to earn money; [dʒob] - робота; праця; місце роботи.

Значення: посада, місце, служба, на яку ми ходимо щодня та отримуємо гроші.

Вживання: використовуємо у тих випадках, коли говоримо про регулярно оплачувану роботу, яку ви виконуєте для роботодавця.

What is your job?

If you know English, it will improve your opportunities to get a good job.

Profession - a type of work that needs special training or education; requires a degree or completed studies at a university or other institution of higher education. It involves extensive training and special knowledge (потрібує ступінь або закінчене навчання в університеті чи іншому вищому навчальному закладі. Це вимагає тривалої підготовки та спеціальних знань; професія, рід занять, сфера діяльності.

Examples of professions:

Accountant, architect, doctor, engineer, lawer, teacher

Вживання: використовуємо, коли говоримо про свою професію.

He's working in a restaurant, but he's a teacher by profession.

Occupation is a formal word for job; something that you spend time doing, either for pleasure or because it needs to be done; професія, заняття, рід занять

Значення: слово необхідне для того, щоб визначити роботу, що потребує специфічних знань або професійних навичок.

Вживання: Позначає роботу, яка потребує специфічних знань чи професійних навичок. Використовується переважно у документах та резюме .

You have to give your name, age, and occupation on the application form.

(Parachuting is a dangerous occupation.)

 

NOTE

In a perfect world your profession, occupation ( job) are the same thing but not always.

Compare

1) I studied teaching at university and I am a teacher now. – My profession and my occupation are the same.

2)  I studied teaching at university but I am an actress now. – My profession is a teacher though my occupation (or my job) is an actress.

Career  - a job or profession that you do for a long period of your life and that gives you the chance to move to a higher position and earn more money; кар'єра, заняття, професія, справа життя.

Значення: загальний професійний прогрес, який може містити кілька різних професій протягом кількох років.

He had a successful career in television journalism.

Work -  робота, праця, заняття, справа.

Значення: слово «work» має найбільш загальне значення. Англійське іменник означає те саме, як і «робота» українською, тобто, будь-яка робота загального плану, яку ви виконуєте.

Вживання: коли говоримо про роботу, на виконання якої ви прикладаєте фізичні чи розумові зусилля.

Приклад:

He will complete the work in two hours.
