Означає протилежність. Майже завжди перекладається префіксом не

Вживається с прикметниками, іменниками, та відтвореними від них прислівниками

Adequate /ˈædɪkwət/ – inadequate – недостатній, невідповідний, непідходящий

Dependentindependent – незалежний     dependant (утриманець)

Definite – indefinite - невизначений

Complete – incomplete – неповний

Accurate /ˈæk.jə.rət/ – inaccurate неточний, неправильний
